Josh received his first break in the film industry in 1995, when he crewed on the Oscar winning feature film, Shine. He then spent the next seven years on the sets of films, TV series and commercials across Australia.

Josh began a three-year stint at Great Southern Films in Melbourne in 2002, and then founded production company Suitcase Murphy with Duncan Imberger in 2007. His debut documentary, Beyond the Backyard, screened on ABC TV in 2008, the same year his short documentary, Walpeup-Underbool, won the inaugural Melbourne International Film Festival Footy Shorts competition.

His recent directing credits include short form documentaries for Google, The Australian Ballet and The National Gallery of Victoria, plus commercials and multimedia content for brands and agencies across the country.

Starting with Shane’s brilliant words and Chris’s wonderfully bent illustrations, I knew this was going to be something really special. Add the sublime talent of Geoffrey Rush, the amazing work of animator Stephen Watkins and the team at XYZ, and everyone else from storyboards to sound design, and I think we’ve managed to create a truly unique, amazing series that Australian audiences will fall in love with.
